As an institution Tikondane engages the general public to support and protect vulnerable children and youth through various activities. In view of that, Tikondane organized on
Friday, the 4th September 2015 an Open Day Event where the general public was invited to reflect on the different abuses the children and youth are facing.
The theme of the day:
“Let’s break the culture of silence! Protect children from different forms of abuses!”
Venue: Maria Goretti Primary School Ground and Tikondane Shelter
The theme was chosen following the different cases of abuse recorded at our institution.

There was the opportunity to visit our transit shelter. As part of the program, children showcased some activities arising from experiences of children’s rights violation. Performances included dances, dramas and children speeches transmitting messages about abuses.
The Guest of Honor was Mr. McKnight Kalanda, Director of Child Affairs at the Ministry of Gender, Children, Disability and Social Welfare. Also present was Monsignor F. Sonkhani representing the Archdiocese of Lilongwe.
