On Saturday, the 2nd January 2016, Tikondane invited His Grace Archbishop Ziyaye, catholic youth and women groups, parish and diocese priests, family members of the children and networking stakeholders to a Christmas Play and talents Show.

The children showcased among other drama, comedy, Christmas carols, dances and fashion shows. The audience and the children enjoyed the afternoon very much.
As an institution Tikondane engages the general public to support and protect vulnerable children and youth through various activities. In view of that, Tikondane organized on
Friday, the 4th September 2015 an Open Day Event where the general public was invited to reflect on the different abuses the children and youth are facing.
The theme of the day:
“Let’s break the culture of silence! Protect children from different forms of abuses!”
Venue: Maria Goretti Primary School Ground and Tikondane Shelter
The theme was chosen following the different cases of abuse recorded at our institution.

There was the opportunity to visit our transit shelter. As part of the program, children showcased some activities arising from experiences of children’s rights violation. Performances included dances, dramas and children speeches transmitting messages about abuses.
The Guest of Honor was Mr. McKnight Kalanda, Director of Child Affairs at the Ministry of Gender, Children, Disability and Social Welfare. Also present was Monsignor F. Sonkhani representing the Archdiocese of Lilongwe.

On the 4th of November 2014 we had the honor to be visited by Malawi’s First Lady Gertrude Mutharika accompanied by the Minister of Gender, Children and Community Development Patricia Kaliati and the Consul of Monaco at our Shelter.
During the first two weeks of July, a painter will be working at Tikondane to decorate the walls of the center with original images. The paintings will depict scenes with an educational value for the children. For example, the sanitary building will show tips for basic hygiene and other walls will warn the children against abuse and discrimination or show them what fair play in sports looks like.
We are glad that soon, our buildings will look more appealing and child-friendly
